DESCRIPTION:Free; suggested donation $10 per family\nRecommended for families with children 10 and under \nCalling all families: the JCC’s first-ever Family Field Day is on! Coach D from Backyard PE will keep kids and parents moving and make sure everyone has a blast with sports and rec games and relay races. Each activity is designed to be accessible for little ones while keeping older kids engaged and challenged. We’ll also enjoy snacks\, crafts\, and classic picnic fun. Don’t forget to wear sneakers for all the running and playing and feel free to bring a blanket for picnicking. \nRain or shine; in case of severe weather\, we will move indoors.

SUMMARY:Art and Ideology in Paris
DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand\, art historian Serdar Arat will take us on a visual tour of the 1937 World Fair in Paris. At this influential exposition\, Hitler\, Mussolini\, and Stalin display their political and cultural ambitions alongside Picasso’s Guernica\, arguably the most famous and influential war painting of all time. In this colorful exploration and comparative experience at the crossroads of art\, history\, and political ideologies\, we’ll discuss how fascism\, socialism\, anarchism and liberalism impacted modern and contemporary art. \nAbout the Presenter: Serdar Arat is an artist working in NY since 1980. He has nearly forty individual exhibitions\, mostly in NYC and Istanbul\, and more than sixty group exhibitions. His work has been reviewed in half a dozen New York Times articles\, a monograph\, catalogs\, and a documentary. Serdar is a retired Prof. Emeritus of Art and Gallery Director-Curator\, and frequently lectures on the intersection of art and other issues\, including a TEDx-talk.

We begin our time together by lighting candles and end with a little grape juice and challah… all in a very inclusive way. Neighbors of all backgrounds are welcome. These are on the 2nd\, 3rd\, 4th\, and 5th Fridays of each month.
